Boxing Day
January 4th, 2010
by Kristin Harvill (caregiver)
Today we felt we could engage in a belated Boxing Day, for it is known in the sanctuary world that left over holiday wrappings, ribbons, and bags are always fun for the chimps to sift through! When Herbie and Jackson came outside this morning, not only were they thrilled about the warmer weather, but multiple bags full of tissue and wrapping paper were neatly laid out for their personal enjoyment! Herbie as always let out his high pitched chirps of excitement over the small forage items hidden within the bags, while Jackson eye-balled the other bags, indecisive over which one he should snag first. All of our staff and volunteer members agree that there is no greater pleasure than hearing such enthusiastic vocalizations coming from our beloved eight chimpanzees. Knowing that such a simple gesture of enrichment can make their day more memorable and better than the days before they arrived at Chimps Inc is the greatest holiday gift of all.
